Beschrijving: This is not merely another workbook with intercultural incidents. The first part consists of photographic materials, which are used for observation, analysis and understanding of cultural features. Before any attempt at understanding cultural characteristics, one has to learn how to see them first: all too often our own cultural preconceptions make us blind to noticing what is different. Then, the workbook moves the user from observation to analysis: asking the right questions. And eventually, analysis leads to understanding and appreciating cultural differences.The first section of the workbook ends with a number of ethical cultural dilemmas which will encourage readers to reflect on some tough choices that have to be made in real life. In the second part of the book, more complex intercultural situations, incidents and misunderstandings are presented for analysis and action-taking. All the materials in this book are real-life cases. Most of them were originally collected by the author himself from reliable sources, and they are transcribed here with a constant concern for accuracy and relevance.
